It looks like Richard Kone will be saying his goodbyes to Wycombe Wanderers fans and his teammates as Pete O’Rourke has reported his move to Championship side, Queens Park Rangers, has been finalised, ending his two-year spell at The Chairboys.

It was reported yesterday that the two clubs had agreed on a fee for the 22-year-old Ivorian striker, the upfront fee being just under the £3 million mark, with a 22.5% sell-on clause and other add-ons rising the price to £5 million.

Kone joined Wycombe Wanderers from Essex Senior League side, Atheltic Newham after impressing on trial, scoring 18 goals in the 24/25 league campaign, including a nine minute hattrick in a 3-1 win against Peterborough United.

While it is sad to see a player as talented as Richard Kone leave the club, one can only wish him the best in his future as it seems bright for him. This will also be Wycombe’s record fee in terms of outgoing transfers, topping Anis Mehmetti to Bristol City which was reported to be around £1 million.

Wycombe will now hopefully turn their attention towards finding a replacement for the goal-scorer.
