Wycombe Wanderers boss Michael Duff yesterday confirmed that Nathan Lowe is approaching a return to full fitness following the Chairboys’ 1-1 draw with Exeter City on Tuesday.

Speaking to Quartermen founder Jayden Wilkins, who was also covering the game on behalf of Football League World, he said Lowe’s return to fitness following his loan move to Wycombe after a leg injury at Stockport County.

Duff mentioned that Lowe had played “30-35 minutes” in a training game on Tuesday, which bodes well for the 20-year-old who will be desperate to get back into regular football after an exceptional 2024/25 season with Walsall.

Wycombe will be delighted to get the striker back onto the pitch, as will fans, with the club struggling with goals from its number nine.

The club’s top scorers are Fred Onyedinma on nine goals, Sam Bell (who was recalled at the start of January) on six goals, and Cauley Woodrow on four goals from 26 league games.

Backup striker Bradley Fink, meanwhile, continues to get breadcrumbs, appearing off the bench for a combined three minutes in the past two matches. While young, Fink clearly doesn’t have the trust of Duff.

So Lowe coming back in as a true, goalscoring striker can only be good news for Wycombe, who’ve fallen to two draws and one defeat in the past five games, with the play-off places looking more and more difficult with the Chairboys now five points off Huddersfield Town with a game in hand.
