48 hours is a long time in football, and a lot can change. That has been proven tonight as Ipswich Town midfielder Cameron Humphreys, who was close to joining Wycombe Wanderers, has instead signed for League One rivals Huddersfield Town.

James Richings revealed on Sunday that the Chairboys were interested in re-signing the midfielder, and things quickly progressed from there.

It was revealed to The Quartermen on Monday by a trusted source that the Blues were ‘closing in’ on re-signing their former loanee until the end of the season, but things quickly turned on Wednesday, when we were told the player was headed elsewhere, and the deal had stalled.

Sources informed us that the player’s agent had advise his client a different environment would be the best option for his development. Luton Town were also said to be in the mix for his services, but the Terriers have beaten the Hatters and the Chairboys to his signature.

Unfortunately, quick U-turns happen in football given the volatile nature of the transfer market, which is part and parcel of the game. Wanderers will still be looking for midfield reinforcements, but in a less advanced position than Humphreys.

There has been no further updates provide over Aaron Morley or Karoy Anderson, who have both been linked with the Buckinghamshire side this January.
