Wycombe Wanderers have continued their efforts to bring Barnsley FC’s captain to Adams Park.

It’s been reported that the Buckinghamshire-based side have launched a fourth bid for the midfielder.

Reported by Charlie Gordon of the Daily Express on X, Wycombe are not the only League One side in the race to sign Connell, with Bolton Wanderers and Huddersfield Town now eyeing the midfielder. The Chairboys are still waiting for a formal response from Barnsley, but are “considering” the offer made.

This follows reports that Wycombe had a bid accepted for Connell, however, this appeared to not be the case as it was later reported that the bid of £1.3 million had not been accepted by the Tykes.

Now, Wycombe have reportedly put in a fourth bid, furthering their interest in the midfielder.

Wanderers fell just short of promotion last season after being knocked out by Charlton in the play-off semi-finals and look to improve on that to make their return to the second tier of English football.

They haven’t exactly been shy of strengthening their squad as the 25/26 season approaches, bringing a number of fresh faces such as Bradley Fink, Mikki van Sas and Jamie Mullins to Adams Park within the past few weeks.
