Wycombe Wanderers see £600k bid rejected for Pancevo winger Sylvester Jasper

Wycombe Wanderers have recently had a bid in the region of €700k (£604k) rejected by Serbian Premier League side FK Zeleznicar Pancevo, The Quartermen have learned.

Reports emerged from The Lower Tiers on Monday that Wycombe were ‘closing in’ on the signing of the former Fulham youngster. Still, we have now learned that the club’s initial bid in the €700k range has been ‘flatly rejected’ by Pancevo.

The Serbian outfit sits fifth in their respective division and has faced plenty of interest in Jasper over the last month from across Europe, with clubs in Germany and Turkey both submitting bids for the player, which were also turned away.

It’s understood that Pancevo value the winger at around €2m, which translates to somewhere in the region of £1.7m, over double what Wycombe offered in their opening bid.

If the Buckinghamshire club are desperate to land Jasper, they will have to cough up a record-shattering fee for his services, which will dwarf the current record that was set last January when Magnus Westergaard arrived from Viborg for €1m. It would also be the third time in 18 months that Wanderers’ new ownership group has broken the club’s record spend.

It’s unknown currently whether Wycombe have submitted another bid which Pancevo will deem acceptable, but we now know that the Chairboys hierarchy is willing to splash the cash in the final week of the transfer window.
