Potential Wycombe Wanderers transfer targets: Dawson Devoy

The Irish Premier Division is quickly growing from strength to strength. It’s teams are doing better and better in Europe, the calibre of player is growing ever stronger, and it’s young talents are fetching more and more money from the biggest European clubs.

Wycombe Wanderers would be amiss not to partake and look for targets in the division, and Dawson Devoy is one such example. The Bohemians player had two seasons in England with Milton Keynes and a loan at Swindon Town, but returned to Ireland in 2024.

The midfielder had performed well at both, getting two goals and 10 assist across two seasons and 58 appearances, but has excelled and matured back in Ireland with nine goals and eight assists in 51 appearances across two seasons for Bohemians.

Capable of playing as a six, an eight or a ten, Devoy is extremely well rounded in his passing and technical areas, doing extremely well. He created 64 chances across the entire 2025 season in Ireland, made 83.9% of his passes accurately, won 43 fouls and won 53.6% of his duels.

He primarily played as a six in a 4-2-3-1, a position Wycombe could look to strengthen in January. Both Jamie Mullins and Ewan Henderson were forced off with injuries at Plymouth Argyle after Magnus Westergaard suffered the same fate at Luton Town, while George Abbott and Josh Scowen are both slowly returning from their respective absences.

It leaves just Luke Leahy, Wycombe’s most used player by minutes left in the position, and the 33-year-old can’t be relied upon solely in the position.

Devoy would offer an EFL experienced player capable of coming into the position well following two exceptional seasons in Ireland, and should be one the Chairboys have their eye on in January.
