The Quartermen name their top 5 Wycombe Wanderers Academy prospects to keep an eye out for in the not so distant future.
This summer Wycombe Wanderers re-launched their academy. The academy will start as category 4, with the hope to increase to category 3 and then to category 2. Clubs must demonstrate a commitment to high-quality youth development. This includes providing a minimum of coaching time, maintaining a competitive standard, and offering an educational program.
Clubs must also ensure that their coaching staff is highly qualified and that they have access to state-of-the-art facilities. The Elite Player Performance Plan (EPPP) provides a framework for clubs to follow, which includes funding methods and performance benchmarks to support young footballers’ development.
The academy has seen a lot of recruitment over the past few months of both staff and players. The u18 side has already beaten category 3 side Bristol Rovers in the FA Youth Cup and face Bromley FC in the next round at Adams Park, as this article is being written.
The clubs involvement in the Berks & Bucks Cup is also giving the academy players a chance to shine in first team football. In October a largely academy side defeated Penn & Tylers Green 2-1 and just last week they defeated Burnham FC 3-0. Some very promising performances, so now, let’s dive deeper in to those players and give you an insight in to the top 5 Chairboys prospects to look out for.
Cameron Stones
A great place to start, with Cameron Stones having just signed his first professional contract, he made his first team debut vs Leyton Orient in the Carabao Cup this season. Wycombe describe Cameron as an “explosive winger who plays straight and fast. He uses pace to open space and a direct dribble to challenge defenders.
He’s a natural goal threat with an eye for goal, combining strength and technique in forward bursts.” The attacker shone in the FA Youth Cup tie vs Bristol Rovers, scoring 2 goals, including an incredible strike, lobbing the Pirates keeper from 40 yards. He arrived at the club following spells with Watford and Queens Park Rangers.
Arthur Gregory
The Quartermen first saw Gregory play in the pre season friendly away at Sutton United. Coming on at left back, Gregory quickly showed his style and intent. An aggressive, no-fear defender, he really made an impression with us that evening. The left-back started out at Brighton’s academy and then moved on to Worthing FC, playing senior first team football on a handful of occasions.
He became one of the influential figures in Worthing FC’s hugely successful U18s side. The teenager netted the winner in the Isthmian League Cup Final away to Camberley Town with a rasping effort from range, which clinched a league and cup double for the young Rebels. Gregory has already made his first-team debut as he came off the bench in the first-team’s 0-1 win away at Leyton Orient early in the 2025/26 season.
Mekhi Savage
Another academy player that has made his first team debut this season, Mekhi Savage came on as a substitute in the Chairboys’ Second Round Carabao Cup win against Bromley, where he stepped up to take a spot kick in the penalty shootout. Savage joined Wycombe after impressing in senior football for Croydon FC, having earlier been at Charlton Athletic and Kinetic Academy.
Wycombe describe Mekhi as “a technical creative player with flair in the final third. He loves being on the ball, pulls strings, creates, and frequently contributes with assists and goals. His first-team training exposure shows maturity and readiness for senior football.” The midfielder has been an important part of the side that has reached the Quarter Finals on the Berks & Bucks Cup this season. He netted a superb effort from distance in the 1-2 win at Penn & Tylers Green.
Christian Swaby
Christian Swaby is a solid, imposing centre back, that is equally happy in defensive duels and building attacks with passing through the lines. The defender has been an integral part of the Berks & Bucks squad so far and will be hoping to impress and take the club further in the competition. Swaby has been at numerous academies including Watford, and joined Wycombe from nearby Chesham United.
Micah Olabiyi
Our final choice is former Tottenham Hotspur and Crystal Palace forward, Micah Olabiyi. As described by the club, Micah is “A direct winger with excellent ball control, skilled at weaving past defenders, Olabiyi maintains tempo at high speed dribbles and carries goal threat with his creative spark, ball carrying skills and finishing instincts.”
He scored in the B&B Cup win vs Penn & Tylers Green with a cool finish, and added to his Berks and Bucks tally in the 0-3 win at Burnham last week. Olabiyi made his first team debut when he was brought on our penalty shootout victory over Bromley in the second round of the Carabao Cup.
Wycombe fans will be delighted that our academy is back, and is already well-stocked with talent. There’s nothing better than seeing an academy player make their debut and watching their career grow, as we have done with many players over the years.
The future’s bright at Adams Park.
