Wycombe Wanderers have recently announced that Garath McCleary has left the club following five years at Adams Park, bringing an end to a memorable spell in Buckinghamshire.

The 38-year-old winger spent time at Oxford City, Slough Town and Reading before making the switch to the light-dark blue quarters in November 2020, and was quick to establish himself as a fan favourite, scoring his first goal for Wanderers in a 2-2 draw against Preston.

McCleary made a total of 219 appearances for the Chairboys, scoring 31 and assisting in 28.

Head coach, Mike Dodds, said that he “Really enjoyed working with Garath during my time at the club and he’s been a really influential on and off the pitch…” and that “He’ll have plenty to offer his next club when the time comes.”

Unfortunately, this continues the trend of attacking players leaving Wycombe this transfer window, now bringing the total to eight with only three signing so far.

However this shouldn’t stop fans from singing his praises and thanking him for the time he spent with us in blue, and wishing him the best of luck going forward, wherever that will be.
