AFC Wimbledon are keen to make James Tilley’s return to Plough Lane permanent this summer, The Quartermen understands.

The wide-man joined Wycombe Wanderers on a free transfer last summer, having turned down the opportunity to extend his stay with the Dons following their promotion from League Two.

However, Tilley found game time hard to come by, particularly after the sacking of Mike Dodds. This saw him loaned back out to Wimbledon in January, where he’s chipped in with two goals and two assists in 13 league outings.

Now, The Quartermen have been informed that Johnnie Jackson is ‘keen’ on securing a permanent return to Plough Lane for the 27-year-old.

It’s understood Tilley remains under contract at Adams Park heading into next season, meaning a small fee would likely be required to complete a deal.

Tilley seemingly won’t be part of Michael Duff’s plans heading into next season, which will open the door for him to make a permanent exit in the summer.

The former Brighton & Hove Albion youth prospect made 13 appearances for the Chairboys, scoring once.

Wanderers are expected to be busy in the upcoming transfer window, with Duff clearly unhappy with some of the members of his current squad.
