Fact File:

Name: Laura Hennessy

Position: Centre Midfielder

Length of time at W3: First season

Earliest footballing memory?

Getting my first pair of boots and insisting on wearing them to Tesco. I couldn’t kick a ball straight, but at least I looked ready for the Premier League cereal aisle.

Who do you support?

A team that ruins my weekend mood every Saturday (Man Utd).

First football match you attended?

It was in fact a Wycombe game at Adams Park I want to say against Chelsea in a friendly and I got to play on the pitch at half time…I won’t mention the score.

How would you best describe yourself as a player?

A mix between N’Golo Kanté’s engine, James Milner’s reliability, and a lost Labrador’s sense of direction.

One piece of advice you’d give to a young, up-and-coming footballer?

Work rate and grit will get you further than talent alone, and never trust anyone who says, “It’s only a friendly.”

Besides football, what other sports do you enjoy?

I play tennis and padel with my brother ;free therapy, really. And running and the gym are daily musts. They’re my mental reset button… otherwise I’d be a menace to society.

Do you have any non-sporting hobbies?

I enjoy leaving the country , going on holiday , and being a bit spontaneous with it. Going for a new record next year …

    you?

What’s a quote or saying you live by?

Everything happens for a reason; timing , people and places

You’ll only regret the chances you didn’t take.

If you could swap lives with anyone in the world for a day, who would it be and why?

David Attenborough — just to narrate people’s lives for 24 hours. “Here, we see an Ellen approaching the training ground… late, as always. A magnificent creature, fuelled by chicken nuggets and pure delusion that she’s on time”

Who’s my best friend in the squad?

Well… dangerous question, because I go back a few years with the girls and the politics of this could get me benched haha.

Me and Bobby were, are and still a liability together. Fortunately nobody else has had to witness this yet..

Then there’s Ellen. our love language is pure verbal abuse that always makes the day a bit brighter

And then there’s my midfield trio: Jordan and Anisha. And if they aren’t there there is just no point.

Of course Kayla too, she thinks what I think. But often says what she thinks and I love it.

Then there’s Jess.. we are basically Rice & Saka wholesome, smiley, always got each other’s backs. Proper feel-good duo.

    So honestly?

I can’t pick one. The whole squad is class. It’s a mix of chaos, roasting and very questionable behaviour… but that’s why I love them.
